Journey to Holy Mountain Ausangate

Aug 28–Sept 9, 2010

Ausangate is the highest mountain visible from the whole Cusco Valley and the highest Apu – mountain spirit – and Lord of the Cusco area for all Andean indians of the powerful Turpo family who's Elder, the late Don Mariano Turpo, was known throughout the continent for his expensive advocacy on behalf of independence for the Andean Indians and later for his healing and spiritual work at the foot of the holy mountain.

This trip to and on Holy ground involves horsebacking and camping primitively. We take care of meals, luggage and camping gear. You carry only a small bottle of water and yourself personal affects – luggage and gear is carried on pack horses.

This expedition will be lead by Juan Murillo, initiated in the fourth level of the Andean Tradition and a devoted student of Don Mariano Turpo.

For many years, the Elder (Master) of the Ausangate area was Don Mariano Turpo. He was initiated by his father and mother. His son was also initiated through his father's, grandmother's and mother's lineage. After Don Mariano's death, his son, Don Nazario Turpo was the Keeper of Ausangate until his tragic and untimely death in 2007.
